Jennifer "Jenn" Gilson is an American real estate agent with Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty, based in Burlingame, California.^[1][2] Born and raised in Hillsborough, she works mainly in Hillsborough, Burlingame and the surrounding San Francisco Peninsula, and her family founded Gilson Development, a Peninsula builder of custom and remodeled homes.^[3][4] She is also the founder of Key Women, a membership network for women in real estate and related fields.^[5]

In August 2026 Gilson represented the sellers of Villa de Verano, a 12-acre estate at 3000 Ralston Avenue in Hillsborough, which closed for $70 million, the highest residential price recorded in the town and roughly double its previous record.^[6][7][8] She and her brokerage described it as the highest home sale in Northern California in 2026.^[8][9] In 2025 she sold the Hillsborough estate of singer Bing Crosby for $25 million, and in 2026 she relisted the renovated property for $28,995,000.^[10][11]

She is the No. 1 agent at Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty by sales volume and the No. 1 female agent in Hillsborough and Burlingame.^[10][3][12] RealTrends Verified credits her with $167.55 million in sales volume across 38 transaction sides in 2025.^[13]

Early life and career [edit]

Background

Gilson was born and raised in Hillsborough, California, in San Mateo County.^[3][4] More than a decade before her current biography was written, her family founded Gilson Development, a builder that remodels and custom-builds homes on the Peninsula and in Silicon Valley; Gilson says the connection gives her a working knowledge of construction, design and development timing and lets her bring buyers and developers together, sometimes before a house is finished.^[3][14] Gilson Development was the builder of 6 Cedar Lane in Woodside, a new house designed by architect Steve Simpson that Gilson co-listed and sold in 2026.^[15][16]

Real estate career

Gilson's California real estate salesperson license was issued on September 29, 2010.^[1] Her Sotheby's International Realty biography says she has worked in both commercial and residential sales, is a certified relocation specialist who works with expatriate buyers, and was honored as a Top Producing Agent from 2013 through 2016.^[4] In the late 2010s and early 2020s she led the Gilson Team at Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty, under which name many of her listings from that period were marketed.^[17][18][19] The Gilson Team was named to the 2021 RealTrends "America's Best" list of small teams by sales volume.^[20]

Gilson's early high-profile listings included the "Western White House", a Hillsborough estate redesigned in 1930 by architect Julia Morgan for the Hearst family, which she marketed in 2021 and sold in 2022 for $15 million.^[17][21][22] In January 2022 she handled the $15.47 million sale of a newly built house at 950 Macadamia Drive, then among the highest prices paid in Hillsborough.^[17] In 2025 she listed the Hillsborough estate long owned by Bing Crosby and his widow, Kathryn, at $40 million; it sold in June 2025 for $25 million, which Golden Gate Sotheby's described as the town's highest sale in two years.^[23][10]

Gilson now works as the lead agent of a small team from the brokerage's Primrose Road office in downtown Burlingame.^[3][2] MLS records show her closing sales on both the seller and buyer side, from condominiums on the Peninsula to Hillsborough estates above $10 million.^[2]

Villa de Verano record sale

Villa de Verano is a gated estate at 3000 Ralston Avenue in Hillsborough, set on a 12.33-acre lot with 17,016 square feet of living space, including a 12,404-square-foot main residence and a guest house and sports pavilion.^[24][25] Designed by architect Andrew Skurman with interiors by Suzanne Tucker, it draws on the gardens of Italy's Lake Como and the Spanish Colonial Revival work of George Washington Smith; the grounds include an amphitheater, reflecting pond, koi pond, redwood grove, executive-length golf course and a sports complex with a sunken tennis court.^[26][24] After its completion it received the California Landscape Contractors Association's Grand Sweepstakes Award.^[24]

Gilson listed the estate in November 2025 for $88 million, a price covered by The Wall Street Journal, Robb Report and Mansion Global as a potential town record.^[27][28][4] The asking price was later cut to $78.8 million, and the property went under contract in July 2026.^[29] The sale closed on August 6, 2026, at $70,000,000, with Gilson representing the sellers; the buyer's identity was not disclosed.^[6][7][25]

The sale set a new residential record for Hillsborough, roughly doubling the previous high of $35 million, paid in 2022 for a house formerly owned by Elon Musk.^[7][8] Gilson, Sotheby's International Realty and Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty each described it as the highest residential sale in Northern California in 2026.^{[8][30][31][9]} Among 2026 sales reported in the press as of late September, no larger residential sale had been reported in Northern California: the largest San Francisco sale of the year was a $56 million Pacific Heights mansion, and the largest Atherton sales were in the $30 million range.^[29][32][33] A $125 million lakefront estate did sell in March 2026 at Incline Village, on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe.^[34] The sale is not a Bay Area all-time record: a Woodside estate sold for $117.5 million in 2012, and the Green Gables estate in Woodside sold for $85 million in 2025.^[35]

Jenn Gilson

Jennifer Gilson (California DRE #01889172) holds a salesperson license affiliated with Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty's corporate broker, Decker Bullock Dreyfus Inc.^[1] Her website describes her as having more than 20 years of experience in Peninsula luxury real estate.^[36] She lists her service areas as Hillsborough, Burlingame, San Mateo, Atherton, Palo Alto, Belmont, San Carlos and the broader Peninsula.^[14][37]

Gilson lives in Hillsborough with her husband, Danny Faulkner, and their three children; the family recently moved into a newly built house in the town.^[3][38] She describes herself as the primary point of contact on her listings, handling strategy, negotiation and communication with clients and other agents personally.^[3]

Gilson's practice is concentrated in San Mateo County on the San Francisco Peninsula. Her website maintains community pages for Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Mateo and South San Francisco.^[37] Her Sotheby's profile lists specialties including estate properties, custom homes, new construction, development land, historic homes and relocation.^[4]

Hillsborough

Hillsborough, the residential town west of Burlingame and San Mateo where Gilson grew up and lives, is her main market for estate sales.^[36][3] Her website describes work across Upper and Lower Hillsborough, Hillsborough Knolls, the Hayne Road corridor and the Crystal Springs Road area.^[36] Her Hillsborough sales include the town's record sale, the $70 million Villa de Verano (2026), the $25 million Bing Crosby estate (2025), 190 Bridge Road ($16.225 million, 2020), 950 Macadamia Drive ($15.47 million, 2022), 165 Woodridge Road ($14.75 million, 2024) and 1215 La Cumbre Road ($12.5 million, 2026).^{[6][10][18][17][2]} She has also represented buyers of Hillsborough estates listed by other brokerages, including 695 Fairway Circle ($11.1 million) and 715 Brewer Drive ($9.7 million) in late 2025.^[2] In 2026 she marketed 2265 Ralston Avenue, a new estate under construction in Lower North Hillsborough, which went under contract at the "hard hat" stage.^[39][40]

Burlingame

Burlingame, where Gilson's office sits on Primrose Road near Burlingame Avenue, is her other primary market.^[2][14] Her website highlights the Easton Addition, Burlingame Park, Raypark, Lyon-Hoag and Burlingame Hills neighborhoods and the Caltrain corridor.^[14] Her Burlingame work includes new-construction homes such as 1110 Bernal Avenue, sold off-market in 2023 while still under construction, and The Flora, an eight-unit condominium building at 1433 Floribunda Avenue designed by Levy Design Partners.^[41][42] Her recent Burlingame sales have ranged from $2.3 million to $5.6 million.^[2]

Other Peninsula

Beyond Hillsborough and Burlingame, Gilson sells throughout San Mateo County, including San Mateo, San Carlos, Belmont, Millbrae, Redwood City, Pacifica, Atherton and Woodside.^[2][37] Her largest sale outside her two primary towns is 6 Cedar Lane in Woodside, a new 8,261-square-foot house built by Gilson Development, which she co-listed with Scott Dancer of Compass and which sold for $23.5 million in February 2026.^[16][15][43]

Gilson markets listings through Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty and the wider Sotheby's International Realty network, and works with an outside marketing firm on social media, web, press and email campaigns.^[44][3] She has emphasized preparing homes for sale, including staging and vendor coordination handled by her team, and pursuing national press for high-end listings; her Villa de Verano and Crosby estate listings were covered by The Wall Street Journal, Robb Report and the San Francisco Chronicle.^[3][10][26] Drawing on her family's building business, she represents developers and buyers of new construction, including pre-completion sales; in September 2026 she put 2265 Ralston Avenue under contract at $19.5 million more than a year before its planned completion, after a "hard hat" tour for agents.^[36][39][45] Client testimonials on her website frequently mention preparation of homes for sale, marketing reach and multiple offers.^[46]

Bing Crosby estate

The Crosby Estate is a French chateau-style house in Lower North Hillsborough designed by John Bakewell Jr. and Ernest Weihe, the architects of San Francisco City Hall, and built in 1929 for sportsman Lindsay C. Howard.^[48][49] In 1938 it passed to his father, Charles S. Howard, owner of the racehorse Seabiscuit, who kept horses on the grounds; the house later passed through other owners before Bing Crosby and his wife, Kathryn, bought it in 1965.^[49] Crosby reportedly paid about $175,000.^[10] The house has about 13,635 square feet of finished space (18,535 square feet in total), with 11 bedrooms, and features antiques from the collection of William Randolph Hearst, including a 17th-century staircase banister and linenfold paneling.^[49][10] Kathryn Crosby lived there until her death in 2024.^[48]

2025 sale. Listed by Gilson in February 2025 at 1200 Jackling Drive, the estate then covered 5.36 acres across four parcels and was offered for $40 million, a potential town record, drawing coverage from The Wall Street Journal, the San Francisco Chronicle and others.^[50][23][51] It sold in June 2025 for $25 million, with Gilson representing the Crosby family; public records date the sale to June 12, 2025.^{[10][52][53][54]} It was bought by the founder of a home-redevelopment firm who had earlier bought and resold the "Western White House".^[48]

Renovation and new address. After the sale the property was divided into four lots, leaving the main house on about 2.4 acres, and its address was changed to 1200 Armsby Drive, which Robb Report described as a tribute to Kathryn Crosby, who had envisioned it as the address.^[55][56] The owners spent about eight months and $3 million on renovations, including hardwood floors in place of carpeting, about $400,000 of landscaping and a new swimming pool replacing one Crosby had filled in.^[48][11][55]

Current listing. The estate returned to the market in March 2026 at $28,995,000, listed by Gilson with Alex Buljan of Compass, and remained active in September 2026.^[11][55][57] Its relisting was covered by the San Francisco Chronicle, The Real Deal and Robb Report.^[11][48][56]

Key Women [edit]

Key Women is a paid membership network founded by Gilson for women working in real estate and what it calls the "home ecosystem", including agents, architects, interior designers, builders, lenders, attorneys, developers and family offices.^[5] It began in 2021 as an informal mastermind group; the organization says that over five years its members generated more than $200 million in revenue through relationships formed in the group, which led Gilson to formalize it as a network. It describes itself as "a circle of trust" rather than a directory.^[5]

Key Women offers two annual memberships. The Growth Network tier ($1,800 a year) includes a member directory, biweekly virtual meetings with guest and member speakers, and online community features. The Global Alliance tier ($5,000 a year) adds in-person events, often hosted in members' homes, private roundtables, curated introductions for referrals and collaboration, and member spotlights. Both tiers include AI consulting and discounted access to Gilson's marketing team.^[5] The network operates the Instagram account @keywomennetwork, which Gilson links from her own profile, and holds virtual information sessions for prospective members.^[59][60]

Gilson ranks No. 1 at Golden Gate Sotheby's International Realty, above all individuals and teams among the firm's 474 agents.^[3][10] In June 2026 she was named the No. 1 female agent in Hillsborough and Burlingame, based on RealTrends Verified data.^[12][61]
